The natural world is my greatest influence. I am fascinated by the vast complexities that exist not only on our planet, but throughout the entire universe. Its infinite nature keeps me wondering what other possibilities may exist and inspires me to create things that have never been seen before. By learning about the beings that we share our home with, I am not only able to see and be inspired by how much diversity exists in nature, but I am also able to understand how an animal lives or why it may have a certain feature. This knowledge feeds back into my work as I design creatures, worlds, and stories that may not exist on Earth, but still exhibit believability in some way.
While also creating things that many would call horrific, the root of the creation comes from our world. The body itself is so complex and fascinating, and when that becomes deconstructed it can lead to terrifying results. Exploring why certain things bring fear and discomfort to us intrigues me, and I embrace these aspects of horror within my own work. The entire universe is full of things that we may not ever understand, and while this can lead to a feeling of dread, I like to take these ideas and create my own answers of what could be.
I am currently a graduate student at Virginia Tech studying Creative Technologies. I have a passion for concept art, illustration, and 3D art. I design, draw, and 3D model a wide variety of creatures and characters. I love not only creating the characters themselves, but also the worlds they are found in and what makes them unique and able to survive. I have a strong love for the horror genre, however I also enjoy delving into many other genres and styles. Sci-fi, post apocalyptic, and fantasy are a few more of my favorites. And while I love to create monstrous beasts, that doesn’t mean I won’t be creating friendly stylized characters as well. I like to try to create a wide variety of creatures and characters that could be worlds apart.
My favorite mediums for creating art are digital illustration in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet or Procreate on the iPad Pro. I am also a fan of modeling in Zbrush and ballpoint pen or pencil drawing on paper. When not making art, I can often be found playing a variety of video games, which greatly inspire what I make.
